Ordinary Life Sunday school class, featuring Dr. Bill Kerley.
Bill’s title for his offering this week is, “Good News: A Religion of No Escape”.
Bill says, “It is becoming clearer to me that we are living in such a marvelous and amazing time in so many ways AND that we are lacking in the wisdom, structures, and strategies needed to live wisely and usefully in these times. We are stuck in a worldview that inhibits our engaging critical issues in life-enhancing ways. Look at how dangerously divided this country is as one example.
“One of the reasons for this is that for almost two thousand years our faith - both religious and secular - has been based on a spirituality of escape. Consequently, for weeks now I have been talking about various aspects of “being aware.” Now, I want to begin to teach about some of the ways of life and living this awareness leads to. Let me offer you some words from Ilia Delio to ponder as we prepare to meet together this week for Ordinary Life. She writes:
“We constantly pray to God to make order of our chaotic lives, but what if God is the very source of our chaos? What is chaos and disorder are not to be shunned and avoided but attended to and embraced.””
