Dear Folks -
I have begun a series in Ordinary Life that I am calling "Return to
the Center." One of the things I plan to do in this series is re-
visit the "Principles of Ordinary Life." Before we can do that,
however, we must be in a position to do "the work."
This "life talk" is about two things: an explanation of how we got
into a position of being so divided when it comes to religious and
spiritual matters. Then, I spend time talking about the first and
foundational step into spiritual well-being.
Much love,
Bill Kerley

Dear Folks -
We have a rare opportunity this week to hear my dear friend Dr.
Joseph Rachel. Joseph and I have been friends for over 20 years. He
is personally familiar with a number of spiritual paths. He is a
Buddhist practitioner and has studied with the Dalai Lama on several
different occasions. He and I have been involved in an on-going
dialogue about the matters I have mentioned to you several times -
authority, mysticism, ritual and transformation. He will be giving us
his perspective on these things. There will also be ample time for
what questions you might have.
Joseph is an engaging, funny and clearly an excellent spiritual
teacher.
Much love,
Bill Kerley

Dear Folks -
One of the things I want to do in my work is to offer images of
hope for the future. In this Ordinary Life talk I give examples of
how many people feel betrayed by both the religious institutions they
thought they could trust and there is also a feeling on the part of
many of betrayal by our government. Examples of each are given. There
are also examples of positive reasons to take hope - such as the
emergent church movement. I end up by offering images of, of all
things, a hippopotamus and a tortoise that can hopefully awaken in us
the desire to provide nurturing relationships to those who feel
abandoned.
Much love,
Bill Kerley

Dear Folks -
I have begun a new series in Ordinary Life. I'm calling it
"Return to the Center." This "life talk" is titled "The Front Porch"
and is intended to introduce the series. I talk about how far off
from center we have drifted and are, likely, not even aware of it. We
must use both the best of scientific insight and faith to apprehend
the "truth" and make it applicable in our lives. Front porches used
to be a common architectural feature of houses. Front porches were
places were people gathered and talked and they "introduced" one to
the heart of the house. Our work is designed to go to "the heart of
the matter" so our hearts can be transformed so that the places to
which we go in the world can also be transformed.
Much love,
Bill Kerley
