Dear Folks -
If things are not going well on the inside, then things won't go
well on the outside. We can be so blind to how things are going on
the outside that we aren't aware of how things are on the inside.
This is the paradoxical situation I talk about in this life talk. I
gave it the title "The Misfits." I spend some time talking about how
the Roman Empire shaped and fashioned the early Christian message. It
is important for us to be aware of this. Jesus was executed not for
any religious teaching but for his political stance. I conclude this
talk by telling one of my favorite stories. It continues the
question: "What does a woman really want." The woman in this story
represents those hidden aspects of ourselves as well as those in the
outer world we call our "enemies."

Dear Folks -
This week in Ordinary Life I gave the answers to the religious
literacy test I passed out last week. Both questions and answers are
below. I give an example of how important religious literacy is. Then
I try to respond to questions I got about my statement on non-
violence of last week, including offering the "just war theory"
criteria.
Every revolution or reformation in at least the Christian
religion has been about changing the definition of who is in and who
is out. I call this talk "Inside the Circle."

Bill Kerley

Dear Folks -
All great and valid religious systems and spiritual teachings
have at their heart the invitation to "wake up." In this life talk I
speak of how our culture seduces us into distraction. Though this is
true in many arenas I focus on two things - violence and religious
illiteracy. Also, as part of this talk I handed out a religious
literacy test.
Much love,
Bill Kerley
