Deep Is Good - Rev. Gail Williford

Dear Folks,

This week we will hear from one of our St. Paul's UMC clergy that spends
her time focusing on spiritual formation and discipleship. Rev. Gail
Williford will be with us to talk about our spiritual practice. (Where
have I heard that before???) Her bio is available on the St. Paul's UMC

Much love,

The Biology of Gay Orientation - Dr. Thomas Caskey

Dear Folks -

This week in Bill's absence we will here from Dr. Thomas Caskey, an
internationally renowned geneticist and St. Paul's member.

CEO of the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine for the
Prevention of Human Diseases, he "is a distinguished scientist with a
highly respected record of accomplishment in his research field as well
as success in his private-sector enterprises," noted the UT Health
Science Center upon his appointment. His genetic research includes
documenting the universality of the genetic code, identifying the
genetic basis of 10 major heritable diseases, and developing a viral
vector vaccine for HIV. He recently consulted with the Episcopalians
about homosexuality from his medical perspective. Recent gifts to St.
Paul's Foundation have been designated to these funds.

Much love,
Susanna

Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance in Malawi, Africa - Amy Rankin-Williams

Dear Folks-

This week we heard about some of the projects our class funds help to support through GAIA in Malawi' Africa.  This was a thoughtful, dynamic presentation.  Please read Amy's words and enjoy the audio (as usual, no text is available for guest speakers.)

The video shown at the end of the presentation is available at Sam Kauffmann's website here.

From Amy---

Thank you for welcoming me at St. Paul’s last Sunday.  I had a terrific visit and was thrilled to be able to share stories about children like Edward whom we have helped with your support.  As I described, we are reaching into more villages to serve more children infected and affected by AIDS in Malawi, Africa.

I was very impressed with the turn out, the questions, and responsiveness of the attendees.  You have a beautiful facility and church and I can see it is well used.

With warm wishes and sincere gratitude,

Amy

Surprising Congruency - Michael Butera

Dear Folks -

This week in Bill's absence we will hear from one of the most popular
people to speak to the Ordinary Life Gathering - Michael Butera. Mike
needs no introduction to those of you who have heard him speak before.
He is a psychotherapist with many years of experience in private practice
in the Houston area. He is also a former Roman Catholic priest. He
walks a very interesting spiritual path. One of the things Bill
appreciates about him is "the genuine joy his spiritual work brings
him."

Much love,
