Dear Folks -
Sunday, Ordinary Life hosts Journey of Hope ... from Violence to
healing. This is an organization led by murder victim family members
joined by death row family members, family members of the executed, the
exonerated, and others with stories to tell. This organization conducts
public education speaking tours and addresses alternatives to the death
penalty. For more information consult their website
www.journeyofhope.org.
Be Well,

Dear Folks -
One of the most profound paradoxes in doing wise and useful involves the fact that we cannot speak about the most important things and when we do misunderstanding is almost always bound to occur. Yet, and he is the paradox, we must speak about what matters most so that we can grow and gain in clarity about who we are and what we are to do. In the words of one of the greatest texts on mysticism ever written, we live in "the cloud of unknowing." It is this that I try to talk about in the "life talk" I gave in Ordinary Life this week. The title of the talk is
Embracing Uncertainty

Dear Folks -
The text I used for the "life talk" I gave in Ordinary Life this week is below. The audio version differs from it to some degree.
The theme I am following is exploring the marks of those whose lives reveal that they are not "lost" but, rather, are in the process of being "found."
This talk emphasizes the need for loving kindness and compassion that shows itself in inclusiveness.
Spiritual and religious work must lead us to know and include all of who we are and to know and include all others as well. Two major hallmarks of such work are silence and letting go.
Much love,
Bill Kerley

Dear Folks -
In the "life talk" I offered in Ordinary Life this week I raised two questions - how do we experience God? And, are you saved?
Religions are sharply divided over the answers to these two questions. This talk had a fair amount of "audience participation" and for that you'll have to go to the audio link on the Ordinary Life website.
In short I say that we experience God in nature, art, religious ritual, people and dreams. People who are in the process of "being saved" use their religious and spiritual practices to "wake up" and to live mindfully.
Much love,
Bill Kerley
