I ran across a quote by Will Rogers the other day I hadn't seen
before. Listen: "I know worrying must be effective because almost
nothing I worried about ever happened."
I think there is a profound truth in that. My therapist, years ago,
had a somewhat different take on worry. He said that worry was a
superstition. It's like believing, and I'm sure you've heard this, that
"bad things come in threes." Well, they do. And, they come in fours and
fives and sixes, etc. Or, he said worry was like an Indian Rain Dance.
If you keep it up long enough, it is bound to rain sooner than later.
