We have spent a long time in here talking about the history of the Christian
movement. I have spoken a lot about the Jesus of history. This information, I
believe, is critical for everyone who is within the Christian tradition to know about.
There is, however, a danger in such a focus. In distinguishing between the
Jesus of History and the Christ o f Faith some people may conclude that the
Christ of faith is unnecessary - something, or someone, to be gotten rid of. If you
are going to choose to work out your life within the context of the Christian
religion, nothing could be further from the truth. There is a mystical dimension to
all of the living religions and if we ignore this dimension we do so at our peril.
