Embracing Compassion, Confronting the Sacred

One of the great orators of modern times was attorney Louis Nizer. He served

as lawyer for many famous and infamous people. He had a way of turning a

phrase. One of his lines that, when I first read it, struck me as a summary of what

I want both my life and my teaching to be about is this: "True religion is the life

we lead, not the creed we profess."
