There are four points I have suggested that we keep constantly in front of us.
We can begin our daily meditation practice - you do have one don't you? - with
these things in mind:
1. Life is inconceivably precious.
2. Life is short and death is certain.
3. Life contains inevitable difficulties.
4. Life is shaped by our moral choices.
Seeing these truths as realities about life is designed to wake us up. The
assumption of all great spiritual teachers seems to be that people are going
through life sleepwalking. So their message is - wake up!
