Dear Folks -
This talk begins the journey I intend to take into Christian mysticism by using texts from the Gospel of Thomas. The ancient but relatively recently “rediscovered” text begins with the promise that anyone who understands these sayings can avoid “the taste of death.”
One of the things we all share in common with each other and all others is the desire not to suffer and for what suffering we have to lessen. Learning to do this is like learning to juggle spiritual “truths.” I mention in the talk what some of these “balls” we must keep in the air and keep our eyes on are:
our human condition,
a willingness to enter into mystery,
understanding the true origins of the Christian movement before the time of Constantine,
what the phrase “mystical Christ” means
The complete text I spoke from is below, the presentation slides and the audio version can be found on the Ordinary Life website.
Be well!
Much love,
Bill Kerley
