Dear Folks -

If you were present this week in Ordinary Life, you know what a treat we had. The Rev. Stephanie Warfield from Seton Spirituality Center in Austin, Texas was our speaker. I do not yet have a text of her talk but the audio is posted on the Ordinary Life website.

By the way, the website is getting more functional each week. My intent is to post blogs and resources there. Check it out.

There were not many presentation slides from Stephanie's talk but they are also posted.

Near the end of her talk she shared with us a video that fit the content of what she offered. You can view that video by going to -

I hope this holiday weekend is a good and safe time for you. I am so grateful for the opportunity to offer "life talks" in Ordinary Life and for those of you, both near and far, who take the time to be part of this journey. Thank you.

Below are links to the introduction I gave for Stephanie, the audio of her talk and the presentation slides she used.

Do You Want To Be Well?

ORDINARY LIFE - Thoughts and Ideas to Help You Live a Happier Life

Dear Folks -

We found out, after the fact, that we did not get an audio of this week's talk in Ordinary Life. The full text of the talk is below and you can find the presentation slides on the Ordinary Life website.

I began by asking a question I got years ago from Ira Progoff, the Jungian analyst. The question is: What had to happen for you to be here? It is not an easy or simple question to answer.

Then I gave a general overview of what I think, at the present time, it means to do psychological and spiritual work. We are to be involved in the process of becoming centers of freedom and love.

I did this kind of introduction because, other than dealing with the death of Jesus, we have reached the end of the version of the story I have been dealing with for months now.

The question the story raises is, "Do you want to be well?"

More often than not our response to this question is, "Yes, if I don't have to be different."

Below are links to the full text of the talk as well as to the presentation slides.

Much love,

Bill Kerley

In Whose Image?

ORDINARY LIFE - Thoughts and Ideas to Help You Live a Happier Life

Summary of November 10, 2013

Dear Folks -

The title I gave the "life talk" I offered in Ordinary Life this week is

In Whose Image?

The talk has two parts -

One is dedicated to increasing religious and spiritual literacy by talking about the particular incident in the Jesus story this talk is based on. It is about the time people asked Jesus whether they should pay taxes or not. He asked to see a coin and then asked whose image is on it. The answer was, "Caesar's." He then replied, "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's."

The second part is an effort to share the results of my own contemplation on this incident and the application and relevance it has for the living of our lives. Being clear about who and whose we are contributes significantly to our being able to live lives that contribute to the well-being of the world.

The full text of the talk, the presentation slides and the audio of the talk can be accessed by using the links below.

Much love,

Sacred Space

Dear Folks -

The title I gave the "life talk" I offered in Ordinary Life this week is

Sacred Space

When we lose the sense of where we are, we also lose an understanding of what the meaning and purpose of our lives are.

Doing wise and useful spiritual work is like getting an upgrade to our "operating system." We are constantly being lulled into a way of seeing, believing and behaving that our culture seduces us into. I call this the "ego-ic" operating system.

What we have to work at constantly is getting back on a path that honors the Self/Sacred operating system.

I end the talk by describing specifically how to undertake a daily spiritual practice.

Much love,

Bill Kerley
