Dear Folks-
This week we heard about some of the projects our class funds help to support through GAIA in Malawi' Africa. This was a thoughtful, dynamic presentation. Please read Amy's words and enjoy the audio (as usual, no text is available for guest speakers.)
The video shown at the end of the presentation is available at Sam Kauffmann's website here.
From Amy---
Thank you for welcoming me at St. Paul’s last Sunday. I had a terrific visit and was thrilled to be able to share stories about children like Edward whom we have helped with your support. As I described, we are reaching into more villages to serve more children infected and affected by AIDS in Malawi, Africa.
I was very impressed with the turn out, the questions, and responsiveness of the attendees. You have a beautiful facility and church and I can see it is well used.
With warm wishes and sincere gratitude,
Amy

Dear Folks -
This week in Bill's absence we will hear from one of the most popular
people to speak to the Ordinary Life Gathering - Michael Butera. Mike
needs no introduction to those of you who have heard him speak before.
He is a psychotherapist with many years of experience in private practice
in the Houston area. He is also a former Roman Catholic priest. He
walks a very interesting spiritual path. One of the things Bill
appreciates about him is "the genuine joy his spiritual work brings
him."
Much love,
Susanna

Dear Folks -
There will be no text available of the presentation made in Ordinary Life this week. The talk was on human trafficking. The information in the presentation was stunning. I encourage you to visit their website - http://www.houstonrr.org/ - to learn more.
What I am posting below is the text of the sermon I gave at St. Paul's this week. I hope it is helpful to you. There is all the difference in the world between one of the talks I give in Ordinary Life and a sermon. A sermon is much more difficult to write and to give. It is an honor and privilege to be given the opportunity to preach in the cathedral at St. Paul's.
Much love,
Bill Kerley

Dear Folks -
This past summer when I was taking some time off all sorts of things got disrupted by hurricane Ike. One of those was a visit from some folks from the Live Oaks Friends Meeting here in Houston. Bob Stecker, who used to attend Ordinary Life, now attends this Quaker gathering. He will be accompanied by Larry Morcotte, clerk of the Meeting.
They will present a look at Quaker's over 350 year tradition, the ways the Quakers have of interacting with the global community and ways of worship at the local Live Oaks Friends Meeting.
Quakers believe in non-violence. They do not have ministers, believing each person who attends a worship service finds his or her own personal connection with God. They run the business of the Meeting in a town meeting style. They do not take sides but support both sides in a world conflict.
The presentation will be sharing of information followed by time for answering questions.
Much love,
Bill Kerley
