Dear Folks -

Many of the respected voices I listen to - Richard Rohr, Jim Wallace, Bill Moyers, and people of their ilk - are saying that we are in a moral and spiritual crisis. Hurting people, reacting out of fear and, I believe, religious illiteracy are shaping public policy is potentially frightening ways.

The metaphor I used in the talk offered in Ordinary Life this week is that of our needing to find and disarm a ticking time-bomb. Each of us in her or his own way must be open to see how we receive “the truth” and whether we resist it or distort it. Making such corrections and making them know in the various worlds in which we live is critical to our future.
