Dear Folks -
There is an Ordinary Life Happy Hour this Saturday evening. Details are on the Ordinary Life web site.
In talks that I give that bring the insights of evolution and quantum physics into the arena of our psycho/spiritual work, one of the first questions I get from religious folks is, “What about prayer? If there is no external, theistic, interventionist God, how and to whom do we pray?” In response to this, I have been giving a series of three talks on the “problems, promises and perils of prayer.” This week I dealt with the matter of the perils of undertaking a spiritual practice that leads us to be engaged in the world in which we live.
In spiritual practice, our task is not to “change the mind of God” about us or to try to “get something.” Rather, it is to attune our own lives and living with that of the Divine.
That’s a brief summary of the talk I offered in Ordinary Life this week.
I called the talk -
"Being Tuned by Spiritual Practices"
You can read or download the text from which I spoke, view the presentation slides and listen to the audio of the talk using the links below.
If you are reading this, I want you to know how grateful I am for and to you.
Be well and much love,
Bill Kerley
