Dear Folks -
In my effort to deconstruct the story of separation we all live in and to counter the dangers done by Christian Fundamentalism, I have begun in the talks I offer in Ordinary Life to talk about miracles and the miraculous. Most all religions all over the globe have miracles as part of their “scriptures.” The Jewish/Christian tradition actually has fewer than most religions but since it is the one most people in the West have been the most exposed to, it may seem as if there are many. I began in this talk to refer to some of the miracles reported from the Buddhist tradition. From one of them I took the title of the talk -
Do Flowers Spring Up Everywhere You Walk?
It is reported that after Buddha’s enlightenment, lotus flowers sprang up every where he took a step.
What are the miracles reported in the Jewish/Christian tradition? What do they mean? What meaning might they have for us? This talk is the introduction to several I will offer on understanding the miracles in the Christian tradition.
