ORDINARY LIFE - Thoughts and Ideas to Help You Live a Happier Life

Summary for January 6, 2019

Dear Folks -
This week’s talk in Ordinary Life began by my talking about ways I see my teachings to have remained consistent over the past half-century. I’m still committed to the notion that we are to be involved in the process of becoming centers of freedom and love. And, to the view that both the central truth of and for spiritual practice is paying attention to and developing the resources to be present to “what is”. Being non-judgmental and inclusive plays a huge role in this.
What is different now is both the way I understand both myself and the cosmos in which we live. Because of this all of our understandings about matters both religious and spiritual are different - or need to be.
I still want to teach about Jesus because we live in a culture, in the United States, where people know about Jesus but don’t know Jesus. He and his teachings are misused in ways he himself would never recognize.
Now also I see that the goal of our spiritual practice is to help us see through the deceptions of the self and the world so that we can get in touch with the Sacred both within us and around us. We have been taught, to quote Richard Rohr, what to see and not how to see.
That is a very brief summary of the talk. I called it -
Understanding and Undergoing Our Transforming and Ever-Broadening Edges
