ORDINARY LIFE - Thoughts and Ideas to Help You Live a Happier Life

Dear Folks -
The title of the talk I offered in Ordinary Life this week -
Sacred Insecurity
comes from one of my favorite lines from the writings of Thomas Merton. He wrote: “It is in the paradox itself, the paradox which was and is still a source of insecurity, that I have come to find the greatest security.” Michael Morwood in his writings raises the question: Is Jesus God in a way we are not? Theology at its best asks the impossible - to put stock in the ridiculous and to trust absurdity. If we are going to take Jesus as a source of worthy teachings to follow, what do we think and believe about the teacher? And, what practical relevance does how we answer this question have for the way we live out our lives? In trying to answer this and related matters in this talk I say that faith isn’t something we hang on to but, rather, a river we step into.
That is a very brief summary of the talk offered in Ordinary Life this week.
