The Eye Through Which I See

Summary of Ordinary Life for Sunday, March 31, 2019

I’ve loved how Bill has framed a few of these lectures as questions. Going with that theme, I wanted to explore the question, “How do you see?” to get us thinking about what new ways we can evolve our sight. We’ve learned on a grand scale that nothing is fixed, thus there is no reason why we as humans should be fixed. We too are evolving and expanding. The cool thing is that we have conscious choice about how we do so. In an ever creating, ever evolving universe, what do you think the universe is trying to express through you? In what ways do you need to shift how you see?

The two guiding ideas I’ve been inspired by are:

“The eye through which I see God, is the same eye through which God sees me.” (Meister Eckhart)

“I live and move and have my being in God.” (Acts 17:28)

Both of these are true and also useful metaphors to help us understand how we might conceive of the divine unfolding in our lives, which is to say that we are dimensions of the universe unfolding as well.

However you join us in Ordinary Life, I’m grateful for your presence and your reflective questions! Thanks for joining me on this odyssey! Be well and much love - Holly
