Dear Folks -
This is likely the last chance I will have to remind you that Michael Morwood will be with us in a webinar this Thursday evening, August, 27. The event is free of charge but you must register. In order to register for this event, click here.
We called what we offered in Ordinary Life this week -
Jesus, Take The Wheel
This was the second in a two-part introduction to the Sermon on the Mount. How did it happen that Jesus has morphed from a humble servant of the poorest in society to a symbol who stands for far right political policies and religious beliefs? Where did this come from? We have to have a “new mind.” We gain this new perspective in part by raising some critical questions. In light of cosmological evolution who and where is “God”? Who is Jesus and what did he really teach? And, who are we?
Doing this study of the Sermon on the Mount will give us an opportunity to become more religiously literate, learn what it means to be happy and meet who I am calling “Jesus before Christianity.” Jesus teaches a path that is relational and restorative, not authoritative and doctrinal. Jesus teaches, “You are here to be the God-colors in the world."
That is a very brief summary of our time in Ordinary Life this week.
You can find the text we had in front of us, the presentation slides and the audio version of the talk using the links below. The printed text contains much more content that we were able to offer in the live presentation..
Also, be aware that we have instituted a weekly podcast. It is called “In Between.” You can access this through the Ordinary Life website.
