WEEKLY PODCAST | In Between.045

We got a lovely email this week, which was responding to and empathizing with our grief in last week’s podcast about the violence endemic to America. The thoughtful question posed to us was: How do we reconcile with those who are so different in beliefs?

Reconciliation may not be it. We cannot and do not have to reconcile to ideas we simply don’t agree with that minimize suffering, but I wonder if the operative phrase isn’t to be present to rather than reconcile with. I mean this is hard!!! I don’t know about you, but I want my ideas about the world to be right! It’d be really nice to have that security! I’m learning, however, that wanting security and certainty is center thinking, meaning it aligns with abuses of power rather than the interests of those (i.e. most of the world population) who live closer to the edges! The inquiry I am taking up is how do we move forward when there are some who are not willing to take up grieving and healing?

We sit in the messy middle with our squishy vulnerability. Gah!! can you think of anything harder? But that’s what it will take to “soften the ground of our being” and transform societies. This is the theme of Easter: Redemption. Transformation. Let’s be redeemed and transformed.

We will be back live on OL Livestream the Sunday after Easter, April 11 talking about paying off debts. In the mean time, check out the replay from last year’s Palm Sunday and consider registering for St. Paul’s outdoor Easter services. AND Bill recommends watching Scott Galloway with Bill Maher HERE.

Happy Easter weekend and go in peace!
