We took as our launching pad this week one of Jesus’ parables, the one about a treasure hidden in a field. One goal of Ordinary Life is that we embrace the ever-increasing capacity to live from the heart. The more we know the more we know that there is more of the unknown to know. We draw our information from documents called “gospels.” The word means “good news.” The paradox is that so much that wants to call itself Christianity has been bad news. Mysticism is paradoxical because of the prevalence of the feminine (which is excluded in most religions), the use of metaphor, and because it is outside of “doctrine.” The message of mysticism is that there is nothing for you to find, only something to be. What makes a treasure a treasure is that it is something that breaks the bounds of our experience. It is not something earned or labored for, just found. We called the time -
