Summary of Ordinary Life for March 30, 2025

Dear Ones -
Heads up: There is an Ordinary Life Happy Hour at the home of Hilary & James Newman, 2915 Southmore, this Saturday. Time is 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hope to see you there.
Dr. Carol Archer was our guest presenter in Ordinary Life this week. There is no written text of what she did. Dr. Archer is the author of, among other things, the book, “Culture Bump.” “Culture Bump” is a term and process she came up with after returning from living in both Argentina and Algeria. She has taught her method of recognizing and resolving cultural differences to thousands of people in a multitude of places and organizations.
Since learning of her approach, I wanted to have her come and present it to Ordinary Life for at least two major reasons. First, we are seeking to follow a way embodied by Jesus who welcomed with compassion all sorts and conditions of people. And, he asks us to follow him. Second, we are living in a country that is becoming increasingly divided and divisive. The political rhetoric we hear is full of “othering.”
We need tools and techniques to deal with differences and the Culture Bump approach does that. I hope, if you were not present in person or online yesterday, that you take the opportunity to watch the presentation. You will find it helpful - and hopeful.
That’s a brief summary. You can the presentation slides and links to the audio and video version of the talk using the links below.
