Dear Folks -
I began the talk I offered in Ordinary Life this week with my favorite “teaching story.” It is from this story that I got the title of the talk - “Who You?”
For centuries religious groups have focused on the “what” questions: what do you have to believe to be in the “right” group? what do you have to do to be “okay”?
The teachings and practices, which can only be apprehended with non-dual mind, lead us to focus on the “who” question. What is our true identity? Anything that keep this matter consistently in front of us and correctly answered is a wise and useful spiritual practice.
In the body of the text of the talk are two links - one to a review of Christian Wiman’s book and one to an interview (and more) that was on the broadcast “On Being” with him. His book, “My Bright Abyss” is one I am currently using in my own practice. I highly recommend that you check these out.
I hope you find this talk full of practical suggestions that contribute to your growing in wisdom and compassion.
The full text of the talk, the presentation slides and audio version of the talk (which includes examples of what others do for their “daily spiritual practice”) can be found on the Ordinary Life website.
Be well!
Much love,
Bill Kerley
