Dear Folks -

Here are a couple of bits that are relevant to those of you who live in the Houston area and attend Ordinary Life.

First, on Thursday, December 17, the book group from Ordinary Life will prepare and serve a Christmas dinner for the homeless people who attend a worship service and meal at Holy Ground. It’s located just a block from St. Paul’s and is part of the South Main coalition which includes the Emergency Aid Coalition.  If you wish to join the book group by attending the worship service ( we already have sufficient volunteers for the meal) or by donating to the cost of the meal, please see Pam Pool at Ordinary Life next Sunday.

Second, this Sunday at 6 p.m. there is a Choral Service of Lessons and Carols. Again, information is on the Ordinary Life website.

This week in Ordinary Life I offered a “life talk” which I titled -

Sneaky Spirituality and Religion for the Rebellious

It is based on one of the teachings of Jesus about making sure we are not blocked and do not block anyone else from access to “the Truth.” This is particularly crucial as we live in what is being called “the second axial age” where so much is changing and the temptation to give in to reactive fear is so great.

The text from which I spoke is below. The presentations slides and audio version of the talk can be found on the Ordinary Life website.

Be well, and much love.

Bill Kerley
