Dear Ones -
Yesterday I began the Ordinary Life class by announcing that I am stepping back from teaching for the rest of the year. Though I will be present for all classes and intend to teach and/or participate in some of them, I am making a transition in my life that requires me to take a break in my teaching involvement.
We are moving our residence, a home we have live in for over thirty-five years, to a high-rise in the Museum District. Those of you who have made similar moves know the time and attention this requires.
I have tons of support and help in making this transition. I am profoundly grateful to the Steering Committee for stepping in and aiding in finding great people to teach during this time.
This week I talked about how the Sacred Journey is illuminated by the phrase “being involved in the process of becoming centers of freedom and love.” Because of the new knowledge we are gaining from the discipline of evolutionary cosmology, we are having to rethink everything. The theme I have chosen for our work - making sacred the already sacred journey - is one I was influenced to adopt by the writings of Frederick Buechner, especially his book “The Sacred Journey.” The values we seek to embrace and express are best conveyed by stories and I use one of the stories Jesus told to illustrate this point.
That’s a brief summary of the time in Ordinary Life this week.
