Dear Ones -

I called the time in Ordinary Life this week -

Living the Tension Between “Thanks” and “Yes”

It is my reflection on the meaning for us of the “sign” story in John of the raising of Lazarus. It is a powerful story that has found expression in a variety of ways across the centuries. The story was created by a people who were grateful for the past and who were being pulled forward to a new future. They understood that “everything belongs.” The root of all violence is the illusion of separation. The heart of our on-going spiritual work is to pull away the twisted images we believe about “God,” ourselves, and each other. The truth is already there. It just needs, like Lazarus, to be set free.

That’s a brief summary of the time in Ordinary Life this week.
