Dear Ones -

This week in Ordinary Life I talked about -

The Moral Obligation to be Happy

I began with the influence, over the years, that Richard Rohr and conferences at the Center for Action and Contemplation have had on me and my teaching. This involved talking about how Ordinary Life got started and the principles I wanted to teach. Among these is "we have a moral obligation to be happy." This talk is an explanation of the deeper meaning of this teaching. Joy, fearlessness, and love are to mark our lives. The things that make for happiness are embracing the facts that nothing last, that there is no separate self, and that clinging and getting cause pain and suffering. However, the primary purpose of life is not to be happy. Our primary purpose is ongoing spiritual and psychological growth.

That's a brief summary of the talk.
