ORDINARY LIFE - Thoughts and Ideas to Help You Live a Happier Life
Summary for July 31, 2022
Dr. Brian Powers was our guest speaker today. After a mid-life crisis turned him into a seeker, Dr. Powers became
certified as a spiritual director while continuing to practice medicine. After retiring from his medical practice
he was accepted into the Living School at the Center for Action and Contemplation, which was founded by
Richard Rohr. His studies included Christian mysticism, contemplative practices and non dual consciousness.
Today he focused on the importance of developing a mature spirituality, and what that might look like for
Christians today. The need for a daily spiritual practice has been repeatedly emphasized in Ordinary Life,
but which practices would provide the best paths towards spiritual maturity and inner transformation.
