Dear Folks -
One of the teaching goals I have in the “life talk” I offer is to contribute to religious and spiritual literacy. We live in a culture where many people think they know a lot about religious matters but, consistently, polls that are taken to measure religious literacy show otherwise.
In this period of time prior to Easter, a religious “holiday” that everybody in this culture is exposed to, I’ve been basing the talk I offer on a book by Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan, “The Last Week.”
The talk I offered this week I called “Eating with Jesus.” Not only do I want us to know this story at the knowledge and information level but also the relevance it has for our daily lives. To that end, I closed the talk with a story I got from Carl Jung. It is the story about which he said, “If you understand this story, you understand my complete psychology.
