ORDINARY LIFE - Thoughts and Ideas to Help You Live a Happier Life

Dear Folks -
This talk is a continuation of the talk begun last week - “Walking in Bigger Shoes.” Carl Jung said that we all have a tendency to walk in shoes that are too small for us. He was referring to our living with beliefs that we received early in life and carry with us, usually unconsciously, into adulthood. It is somewhat like wearing the clothes we wore in the 8th grade.
I have, last week and this, attempted to talk about four things in a succinct manner - tradition, ritual, myth and meaning. The focus, especially this week, is somewhat narrow because I have attempted to respond to questions that have arisen out of this time and place. For example, one question I’ve gotten in a variety of forms is: How can we know what we know about the cosmos and still recite a creed that was written in the middle of the fourth century?
In doing the work that is required for us to grow we will find what has been true and with us all the time. But, it does take patience and persistence in the practice to experience and express this.
That is a very brief summary of the talk I offered this week in Ordinary Life.
