Dear Folks -

I called the talk offered in Ordinary Life this week -

“The Light We See By”

It begins with the quote from Alan Watts that is at the top of this e-mail and includes my telling of Watts’ version of the origin and meaning of the cosmos. Even though he died in 1973, much of what he taught accurately foreshadowed what we are now learning about the nature of the cosmos. He describes all that “is” as a cosmic game that God plays with himself. Some people get the nature of the game - we call them “saints.” If we don’t take control of what goes into our “thought system,” the culture will do it for us. This is why having a daily practice is so essential. The whole evolutionary process has been shaping us to stop and see just what it is we have been seeing.

That is a very brief summary of the talk I offered this week in Ordinary Life.
