WEEKLY PODCAST | In Between.036

Okay, y’all. Before you listen to this week’s podcast, or at least just after, go watch In and of Itself with Derek DelGaudio. It is available on Hulu, and it is TOTALLY worth it to do the week long free trial JUST for this show. Trust us. Do it. Then come back.

Now that you have watched it, please tell us how much you loved it!! In our podcast, we explore themes from the show, especially Identity and Continuation. Who you are is far more than who you think you are, and you are a continuation of all time, of yesterday and tomorrow, of every moment even. A theme often explored in Ordinary Life is the concept of the true self, which Jung said is “an archetype that represents the unified unconsciousness and consciousness of an individual. Jung often represented the self as a circle, square, or mandala.” The magician—performance artist—illusionist in the show we recommend had a way of handing his audience back to him or her self. The show was his mandala—it came full circle.

Also in the podcast, I read Ada Limón’s “A Name” from her book The Carrying. It, too, is about wanting to be known, to be named, to be.

When Eve walked among
the animals and named them—
nightingale, redshouldered hawk,
fiddler crab, fallow deer—
I wonder if she ever wanted
them to speak back, looked into
their wide wonderful eyes and
whispered, Name me, name me.

So…dear ones…who do you say that you are?
