Summary for March 21, 2021

Dear Folks -

We called our time in Ordinary Life this week -

Let Them Eat Cake

It was our reflections on this phrase in the Lord’s Prayer - “Give us this day our daily bread.” Neil Douglas-Klotz renders it like this: “Endow me with the wisdom to produce and share what each being needs to grow and flourish.” Though the phrase is a “demand” for food, it is so much more. It is a challenge to live one day at a time. It is seeking relief and justice from “the system.” And, it is a request for help in trusting. That the circumstances of our culture create to an increase in the number of hungry people and the reality of “food insecurity,” is our culture’s way of saying, “Let them eat cake.” There is another path we are called to walk.

That is a very brief summary of Ordinary Life for this week.
