Summary of Ordinary Life for March 6, 2022

Dear Ones -

Wow! What an energetic treat it was to hear Dr. Amy-Jill Levine this past Saturday and Sunday. Her Saturday talks, unfortunately, will not be available. The time in Ordinary Life and the sermons she gave on Sunday are available in both audio and video format either through the Ordinary Life website or St. Paul’s. If you were not able to hear her, I encourage you to download or listen to them through the various options below.

Since there is not a “summary” to post, this gives me an opportunity to do two things:

First, to remind you that this weekend is the one we all love to hate - the time to change our clocks by moving them forward one hour. Please don’t forget to do that because -

Second, we are beginning a new “theme” in Ordinary Life this week. It is -

“Embracing What Scares Us As Things Fall Apart”

Some of you will recognize that I have taken some words from Buddhist nun, Pema Chodron, and combined them to create this title. This week I want to share with you my thinking about how this theme presented itself to me and what it might mean for us going forward. For one thing, it does not mean abandoning our “deep dive” into the Gospel of John. What it does mean is a more specific focus on what is going on at the various levels of our lives and living in a world where division and divisiveness seem to have the “upper hand.” How can we in embracing “what is” experience and express peace, hope, love, joy, patience, and humility? That’s my hope and goal. More when the “preview” comes out on Friday.

Again, I hope you will take the opportunity to enjoy and be enlarged by the teachings of Dr. Levine.
