ORDINARY LIFE - Thoughts and Ideas to Help You Live a Happier Life

Dear Folks -

Though our topic was quite serious, we had a bit of fun in Ordinary Life this week. We gave the time a title that serves as a koan -

What Does The Color Seven Smell Like?

We based our teachings on a line from the Sermon on the Mount: "You are here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world." Is the life you are living the life that wants to be lived through you? We live out out precious lives in a world of disaster, distrust, fear and anger. Holly brings her understanding of color theory to bear on this and I end up badgering folks, in a loving way, to have a spiritual practice and not to weasel out of it. For those looking for a definition of a "daily spiritual practice," I offered this: A daily practice is that which we habitually enter into with our whole heart in which we assume the inner stance that offers the least resistance to our being overtaken by the experience of Sacred Mystery which we are powerless by our own efforts to obtain.

That is a very brief summary of our time in Ordinary Life this week.
